Netball Zambia
In the most recent release of World Netball (WN) rankings, Zambia has shown significant progress by ascending from the 16th position to the 15th spot on the global stage. This remarkable improvement reflects Zambia's continued dedication and performance in international netball competitions. The cause for this rise in the rankings can be linked to Zambia's exceptional showing at the PacificAus Sports Netball Series, which took place in Australia in April of this year. The Copper Queens, Zambia's national netball team, not only participated but also secured a bronze medal at the tournament. One of the standout achievements during this competition was Zambia's victory over the 6th-ranked Malawi national team, a remarkable feat that has enhanced scores on Zambia's performance in the sport. In terms of African rankings, Zambia's position has remained steady, as they maintain their 5th position on the continent. Zambia's ascent in the world rankings opens up opportunities for further advancement, especially with the upcoming Africa Cup scheduled to be held in Gaborone, Botswana, from 26th December to 6th, 2023. A strong performance in this prestigious event could potentially enable Zambia to move even higher in the global netball rankings.
