In an impressive display, an 18 years old striker from ELITE LADIES FC, COMFORT SELAMANI, made a memorable debut for the senior women's national team. She replaced her club teammate XIOMARA MAPEPA at the start of the second half and wasted no time in leaving her mark. Selemani netted a crucial goal in the 69th minute, securing a victory for the Copper Queens as they defeated Tanzania by a lone goal. Reflecting on her debut, Selemani expressed her initial nervousness while on the bench but gained confidence from her first touch on the field.“When I was on the bench I was scared but after I came in, the first touch gave me confidence.” She expressed her joy and excitement, having not expected such an opportunity in her first game with the senior team. “Am very happy I wasn’t expecting it because this was my first game with the senior team is very excited.” Looking ahead, Selemani acknowledged the need to work hard and gain more experience in the upcoming friendly matches to secure her place in the team for the World Cup. “I just have to work hard this is when am getting the experience but I have to keep working hard in the upcoming friendly games so that I can find myself in the team going to the world cup.”
