The Zambia National Women's Hockey Team technical bench has received a boost by the inclusion of 63 years old experienced Italian Goalkeeper Coach Francesco Richichi ahead of the 2024 Hockey 5s World Cup. Coach Richichi said the Golden Girls have the capacity of performing well in the world cup from what he has observed on the pitch with them so far. He added that although the team has good players, they have weaknesses in precision when passing balls while some lack the understanding of what their position entails. Despite this predicament, Coach Richichi assured that this is something that can be worked on and improved before the world cup commences. As the team awaits the tournament scheduled from January 24 to 27, where they are grouped with Australia, Ukraine, and rivals South Africa in Group B, Zambia is prepared for their initial two matches on January 24 against South Africa in the morning and Ukraine in the afternoon. The concluding group clash against Australia is set for January 25.
