The Zambian Women's National Hockey 5s fell 9-1 to South Africa in their opening match at the World Cup in Muscat, Oman. In reaction to this loss, Coach Floyd Chomba said the team allowed South Africa to have a lot of space stating, "We started well in the first four minutes but after that I think when we changed the first lineup, the team that went in failed to keep up with the same pace that the first four started with and in the end we gave South Africa a lot of room," he said. Coach Chomba said dspite the lopsided scoreline, the team showed promise and determination against a strong South African side. They will look to regroup and bounce back in their next match against Ukraine. With the tournament's forgiving format, there is still optimism for Zambia to advance and showcase their potential.
