The Zambian Government, represented by Minister of Youth, Sport, and Arts Elvis Nkandu, expressed its pride and commitment to supporting the athletes who have qualified for this month's World Championship in Budapest, Hungary. The athletes include 400 meters sprinters Rhoda Njobvu, Patrick Nyambe, Niddy Mingilishi, and Muzala Samukonga. The championship is scheduled to take place from August 19-27. Nkandu stated that the government fully backs the four athletes and wishes them the best as they compete in the prestigious event. He praised their dedication and hard work, especially Njobvu, who mentioned that the journey to Budapest was challenging but rewarding. She is currently training in Germany alongside Samukonga and Nyambe. The athletes are gearing up for the competition, and the government is committed to supporting them throughout their endeavors. Additionally, Zambia Athletics President Elias Mpondela reiterated his confidence in the four athletes, expressing pride in their accomplishments and determination. He stated that their qualification through the World Athletics Rankings demonstrates the country's growing prowess in the field of athletics. The entire nation eagerly awaits their performances at the Budapest World Athletics Championships, with hopes of witnessing their talents shine on the international stage.
