Athletics National team coach Douglas Kalembo has assured that sprinter Muzala Samukonga is fit and ready for a comeback to competitive events. Despite missing previous competitions due to injury, the 2022 Commonwealth gold medalist is prepared for the international stage. Samukonga was seen training energetically with teammates at the National Heroes Stadium, and Kalembo emphasized the importance of a cautious off-training lifestyle for a full recovery. Kalembo plans to invite over 21 athletes for training ahead of the 2024 calendar, which includes the All African Games, Under 20 Region Five Youth Games, and the African Championships. The goal is to successfully qualify for global events like the Olympics. Meanwhile, 400 meters talent Patrick Nyambe expressed confidence in qualifying for and securing a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
