The Zambia National Pool Team departed for South Africa early this morning at 04:00hrs aboard the luxurious coach provided by UNLIMITED GIFT LTD. Zambia is proudly represented by two teams in the All African Pool Association Blackball Championship (AAPA), the defending African Champions, Men's team, currently ranked second in the world, and the Copper 8 Ladies team, ranked third globally. Before their departure, Zambia Pool Union President, Maxwell Simukonda, encouraged the players to stay focused and represent their nation with pride. He expressed gratitude to everyone who woke up early to support the team and wished them safe travels. Simukonda also mentioned his plan to join the team in camp in the coming days. Tesfa Shikombwe, the ZPU Secretary General, extended thanks to the government and the Ministry of Youth Sports and Arts for their continuous support in ensuring the Association's travel needs are met. He also expressed appreciation to the companies and individuals providing mental, moral, and financial support. Zambia is participating in two tournaments in South Africa: the AAPA Blackball Championship, commencing on October 11, 2023, and the Hawley Cup, scheduled to start on October 16, 2023, both held at Montecasino.
