On the 9th of October 2023, Coach Leonard Milimo declared his men's national pool team ready for the South African World Cup, where Zambia is set to defend the title. In the same development, Women's coach Bongani Mano expressed his confidence in the team and said that they have the necessary tactics to qualify for the final stages and clinch gold after failing to do so last year. "I can say we are 99% ready because we have done the necessary training and camping. Every team at some point needs strength, and this is what we have done to boost the team," he said. Bongani further added that the women will stand firm despite any setbacks that may arise. He gave assurance that they will not take any chances to lose the title but will push for better results.
