Zambia's pursuit of medals at the World Junior Aquatics Championship got off to a slow start as all four swimmers who competed yesterday failed to advance to the second round. The tournament, taking place at the Wingate Institute Olympic Swimming Pool in Netanya, Israel, saw Zach Moyo, Marlise Findlay, Cole Mulenga, and Antonia Liacopolous fall short of progressing further. Zach Moyo participated in the 100 meters breaststroke and clocked a time of 1:09.52 minutes, securing a ninth-place finish. However, he missed the qualifying time, which had been set at 1:03.48 minutes. Moyo remains determined and will have another opportunity when he competes in the 50m breaststroke event on Friday. Moyo commented, "That was not the time I wanted to post in my first heat, but that is how sport is. So, I am going to work hard and try my best in my next race on Friday." Marlise Findlay narrowly missed the qualification mark in the 100m freestyle, recording a time of 1:03.97 minutes against the required 1:02.92 minutes. She will return to the pool today for the 50m backstroke, where she holds a personal best of 32.96 seconds. Cole Mulenga's performances included times of 26.62 seconds and 4:24.83 minutes in his respective events. Although the previous day saw all Zambian swimmers unable to progress, they still have another opportunity to make their mark in the 50m backstroke event on Friday.
