The Zambia Swimming Union has commended the readiness of junior swimmers for the upcoming 2023 African Junior Swimming Championships in Mauritius. President Guy Phiri, speaking at the second league gala in Lusaka, praised the participation of the budding swimmers. The gala serves to expose coach Ian Stephenson to a broader pool of talent for team selection. Notably, Titamengi Miti, the winner of the 100-meter butterfly in the female category, described the heightened competitiveness of the gala. With over 300 athletes from 15 clubs, the two-day event features various categories at the 90 Days Legacy Swimming Pool. President Guy Phiri expressed satisfaction with the swimmers' performance, anticipating their departure for Mauritius on 6th December. As of yesterday, Kapenta Swimming Club was in the lead in the under-16 and under-17 boys' and girls' events with 569 points, while Torpedoes Swim Club followed closely in second place with 424 points.
