The National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ) currently does not recognize the executive committee of the Zambia Tennis Association (ZTTA) led by Mutale Ng'andu as their four-year mandate has expired. The scheduled elective annual general meeting is set for December 2nd. In an interview, Acting General Secretary Raphael Mulenga stated that the former executive's mandate officially ended on September 28th. The NSCZ has advised ZTTA that their executive no longer holds any authority since it lapsed on September 28, 2023. They have set a deadline for ZTTA to conduct elections before the end of the year. ZTTA's General Secretary, Martin Chewe, explained that they were unable to hold elections by September 28th as only three clubs had paid their affiliation fees out of the ten affiliated clubs. However, as of now, six clubs have paid, and they hope the remaining four will do so before the meeting. Additionally, Chewe mentioned that the upcoming meeting will also address amendments to the ZTTA constitution, which needs updating. Once these amendments are ratified by the Congress, an emergency meeting will be called to enact the changes. Chewe, who plans to recontest his position, expressed confidence in retaining it.
