Matero Magic Basketball Club recently hosted the Matero Youth Basketball Camp, which drew young participants from across Lusaka eager to engage with the game of basketball and learn essential life principles. Cynthia Mwila, Head of Banking & Mortgage at the Zambia National Building Society (ZNBS), delivered financial literacy lessons to the kids, ensuring they acquired skills applicable beyond the basketball court. The legal community was also well-represented, reflecting Matero's tradition of producing top lawyers like Dickson Jere. Lungisani Zulu, President of the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ), infused a champion's mentality into the participants, emphasizing the values of dedication, hard work, and discipline that set great lawyers apart. Sonia Mukupa, Head of Business at DStv Zambia, inspired the young basketball enthusiasts to not only dream big but to prepare for opportunities. The camp also welcomed notable names in basketball, including Johnny Zimba, who shared invaluable insights with the next generation. The kids were under the guidance of respected figures like National Team Guard Chongo 'Stizzy' Choona, former Magician & Heroes Play United dribbling wizard George Zulu, and prolific point guard Augustine Kainda. Coaches Davis Zulu, Obert Shamboko, David Musonda, and Serah Dekah supervised and actively participated in molding the future of Zambian basketball.
