On 12th May 2023, the Zambia Pool Union nominated 34 pool players to take part in the Lusaka Trial session which was held at Kulima Tower Bollards Café in Lusaka. Some Players who participated in the 2023 Zambia National Pool team trials, which ran from 13th to 14th May are the trials are Michael Taonga Phiri, Chileshe Mubanga, Bian Mulabi, John Kasongo Miles, Allan Gibbs, and Kelvin Phiri also known as Dog G among other players. The competition was quite competitive with a good turnout of all participants and different spectators from different teams who also came to offer solidarity. On day two, the trials continued as ZPU only picked 10 players from the 34 taking part who were taking part in the tournament. The games played on Saturday and Sunday were open to the public for viewership and the media teams were invited as stated by ZPU Media Director, Kirby Kaoma.
