Saturday, 22nd May 2023, Zambia's representative at the Artistic Pool South Africa tournament Kirby Kaoma Musonda won a medal and walked away with a medal. Kirby later signed on the cloth used on the tables for the tournament at the first-ever African event after being ranked 8th African Pool player after his exceptional performance. The signatures will be framed and others auctioned to different people who are interested in Pool and Celebrate the first-ever continental tournament hosted by Africa. Musonda who is also Pool Union media director is among 10 players that were selected to take part in the Artistic Pool South Africa Championship which kicked off on 16th May 2023. The Luanshya-based official and player say being one of the very first players in history to ever compete in an official WPA-recognised Artistic Pool event on African soil, is such an honor to lift Zambia's flag high. “I'm setting precedence. In the future hopefully, as Zambia we can also have an active Artistic Division Pool so that in future tournaments Zambia can produce more players to compete,” Musonda said. The other players, all South Africans, include Jason Theron, Kyle Akaloo, Aden Joseph, Lenyuktha Chetty, Zaffar Kassim, Jamiel Jacobs, Wayne Parker, Ashraaf Haribhai, and Mario October. Musonda said he is excited to be the only player from outside South Africa to take part in the event and is now ranked 8th in Africa. Sponsors of the tournament were McDermott Cues, Gospel Trick Shot Ministries, Dr. Cue Promotions, Brian "Superman" Pauley, the Cue Coach, Andy Cloth, Basil Billiards, and Cerebro.
