Rugby fans have voiced their disappointment with Diggers Rugby Club, accusing the club of disrespecting Women's Rugby and perpetuating inequality in the sport. Diggers Rugby Club recently held the Mopani 7s Tournament in honor of their club legend, Francis Mwila. In the men's category, the Cup Winners were given K15,000, while the runners-up received K10,000. The issue arose when it was noticed that the Cup Winners in the women's category would only receive K4,000, with the runners-up receiving just K2,000. Critics argued that providing the plate winners (men) with K7,000 while awarding women significantly lower prizes appeared unfair. In response to the public outcry, the organizers decided to address the situation by increasing the women's prizes. They added K2,000, raising the winners' reward to K6,000 and the runners-up to K4,000.
