The Permanent Secretary of Sports, Kangwa Chileshe, has delivered a message to the national pool team, urging them to maintain their championship status as they embark on their journey to South Africa for the upcoming continental competition. In the previous year, Zambia won the African title by triumphing over South Africa in the final of the men's category. The team paid a courtesy visit to Chileshe before departing for Johannesburg, where the tournament is scheduled to kick off next month. Chileshe emphasized the importance of hard work in retaining the championship and later reminded the team that being champions requires continuous dedication and effort. "As champions, you don't have to relax. Go and defend the title, it's yours, you won it, and it's time to keep the fire burning," he said. He urged both the team and the union to double their efforts in preparation for the African tournament and the Hawley Cup. Chileshe emphasized that champions should never forget the dedication and hard work that led to their success, urging them to maintain their form and determination. The Zambia Pool Union recently concluded the selection process for the women's national team, who will also compete in the All Africa Championships and the Hawley Cup. National team coach Bongani Maano expressed confidence in the team's capabilities and highlighted their world-class potential. In the previous year, the women's national team achieved a remarkable third-place finish at the Black Ball World Championship held in Tangier, Morocco, showcasing Zambia's growing prominence in the world of pool.
