Rhoda Njobvu, a prominent Zambian sprinter, experienced an early exit from the World Athletics Championships, concluding her journey with a 7th-place finish in heat 6. Her recorded time for the race stood at 23.82 seconds, marking the end of her participation in the competition. Earlier in the day, the Honourable Elvis Nkandu, Member of Parliament and Minister of Youth, Sport, and Arts, expressed his support for Njobvu and called upon the nation to rally behind the athlete. Minister Nkandu's words echoed the sentiments of the entire country as they watched Njobvu take on the global stage. In his statement, Minister Nkandu shared, "We wish to join the rest of the country in wishing Zambia's fastest woman, Rhoda Njobvu, the very best as she competes in the Women's 200-meters at the ongoing World Athletics Championship. Her race, held in Hungary's Budapest, is scheduled for exactly 12:55 hours." Amidst the unfolding events, Dina Asher-Smith emerged victorious in the 200m women's race during the afternoon session. Demonstrating her exceptional speed and skill, Asher-Smith secured the first-place position. Following closely, Maboundou Koné claimed the second position, while Kayla White of the USA took the third spot with a time of 22.62 seconds. While Njobvu's journey in this particular championship may have come to a close, her dedication and efforts continue to inspire not only Zambians but also athletes worldwide. As the World Athletics Championships progress, the spotlight remains on the triumphs and challenges that shape the course of this esteemed competition.
