Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu has, on behalf of the government, urged parents to nurture their children's academic and sporting talents. The minister said that supporting sports can alleviate poverty and generate employment opportunities. This statement was made during a briefing where Tisa Kalemba, the third-place winner of the ABSA Marathon 42 kilometers, was honored. ZAF Commander, Lieutenant General Colin Barry, expressed the Command's interest in supporting resilient athletes like Tisa. Additionally, ABSA Bank Managing Director Ms. Mizinga Melu announced that the bank will offer financial literacy mentorship to Tisa. Furthermore, Tisa Kalemba has now become a member of the Red Arrows Athletics Club, secured civilian employment, and received donations, including goods and financial support, from various companies.
