In a thrilling encounter at the Pit in Kitwe, RED ARROWS emerged victorious against Green Buffaloes with a final score of 31-21, securing their triumph in the Mopani Sevens Francis Mwila rugby tournament. The delighted coach, Mwamba Chishimba, expressed his satisfaction as his team added another trophy to their collection, bringing their total to four. This victory marked a sweet revenge for ARROWS, who had suffered a defeat in the Mufulira Sevens final, with Buffaloes prevailing 14-12. Coach Mwamba Chishimba shared his sentiments, saying, "It's a great feeling. I am immensely proud of my players and their remarkable performance. We're on the right track, and I extend my gratitude to our sponsors, Zambia Air Force and Atlas Mara Bank, for their remarkable support. We'll maintain our dedication and strive to meet their expectations." Following the intense competition, ARROWS secured a prize of K15,000, while Buffaloes walked away with K10,000 from the one-day event, dedicated to honoring Francis Mwila. Mwila, a former Diggers player, chairperson, and national team member, left an indelible mark on the sport. With this victory, ARROWS bolstered their trophy collection for the season, having previously clinched the National Rugby League (NRL) title, as well as victories in the Nchanga and Konkola Sevens tournaments. Meanwhile, Duncan Nyirenda, coach of the Buffaloes, expressed his pride in his team's achievement of reaching two finals within a month. Nyirenda commented, "While we faced a loss against ARROWS, I still hold my head high, proud of my team's performance. Reaching two finals in just a month is no small feat, and it's a significant accomplishment." He added that his team would actively participate in all the forthcoming sevens circuit tournaments. During the high-energy match, ARROWS showcased their prowess by scoring five tries, courtesy of Lawrence Kaushiku, David Chimbukulu, Edmond Hamayuwa, Andrew Kapapa, and Alex Mwewa. Brian Mbalw managed to convert three of these tries. On the other side, Green Buffaloes' Jimmy Halale, Jason Thole, and Nyambe Chinga contributed tries, with Thole handling the conversions.
