A non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Livingstone, Southern Province, has revealed its commitment to promoting social change through sports across various communities nationwide. Joseph Daka, the founder of Chikondi Sports Youth Arise Foundation, emphasized that introducing children to sports is an effective strategy for combating alcohol and substance abuse. Frederick Chitangala, the Chief Executive Officer of OYDC Zambia, highlighted the importance of the foundation for talent identification and its integral role in raising awareness and promoting recreation and health through sports. These remarks were made during the launch of the Kids Sports for All event at the OYDC Zambia Sports Development Center in Lusaka. This event aims to introduce boys and girls to various sports activities and witnessed active participation from parents and delegates, all in support of children's engagement. Joseph Daka, the driving force behind the foundation, encouraged parents to register their children with Chikondi Sports Youth Arise Academy through OYDC. Frederick Chitangala, Chief Executive Officer of OYDC Zambia, expresses optimism that the academy will bridge gaps in sports development. He emphasizes the need to focus on transforming and mobilizing school sporting championships throughout the country by providing an inclusive, diverse, and safe platform for youth to realize their potential through sports. These initiatives are intended to nurture a love for sports. Zambia Women's 200m Champion, Rhoda Njobvu, along with a dedicated parent, expressed their eagerness to see children pursue their dreams, saying early exposure to athletics and sports provides a valuable channel for communication and motivation. She continued by saying the presence of leaders like Joseph, who can inspire and coach young athletes, is vital. The participation of talented young athletes signals a promising future, and their parents' continued support is greatly appreciated.
