Esasu Kaira, an upcoming hockey player who trains at OYDC Zambia and represents Springfields Hockey Club, is confident about his team's performance in the upcoming Teulings Youth Sports Challenge. Kaira believes that his team has what it takes to claim victory in this prestigious competition. The Teulings Youth Sports Challenge, hosted at OYDC Zambia, features a range of sports disciplines, with athletes under 17 years of age competing vigorously every weekend. Exceptional performances in this event often lead to the selection of talented athletes for national teams. Kaira expressed his excitement about the consistent success of his team, which has consistently outperformed its opponents in the competition. Floyd Chomba, the Teulings Hockey coordinator, shares Kaira's optimism. He believes that Springfields has a strong chance of emerging as the winners in this year's Teulings Youth Sports Challenge. The Teulings Youth Sports Challenge has been a fixture at OYDC Zambia since 2011 and receives generous sponsorship from Coen Teulings, the Chairman of Merifin Capital in Belgium. Over the years, this youth-focused competition has served as a talent pipeline, with numerous athletes earning spots on junior and senior national teams. On 16th September 2023, the competition featured four sports disciplines: basketball, hockey, taekwondo, and beach volleyball. As the young athletes continue to display their skills and determination, the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge remains a vital platform for nurturing sporting talent in Zambia.
