The Midlands Netball Association of Zambia has decided to postpone the Week 13 games originally scheduled for this weekend. A communique from General Secretary Ivalwanji Siame, sent to all clubs and released to the media, cited the ongoing sports expo program as the reason for the postponement. The sports expo, taking place from 25th to 26th August 2023, has prompted the Ministry of Sport, Youth, and Art to request the attendance of the Midlands netball governing body at the event. The expo marks a significant milestone for Zambia, being held at the Mulungushi International Conference Center in Lusaka. Meanwhile, the Zambia Women's Hockey Team, affectionately known as the "Golden Girls," awaits a significant announcement. The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has unveiled the schedule for the 2024 Hockey 5s draws, set to take place in Oman's capital, Muscat, from 24th to 27th January 2024. Zambia's team, competing alongside 16 other nations, is eager to achieve victory in this inaugural tournament. Among the already qualified teams are Oman (the hosts), South Africa, Namibia, the Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine, Uruguay, the USA, Paraguay, Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. The remaining three spots from Asia will be determined through the upcoming Asian Hockey 5s qualifiers scheduled from 25th August to 2nd September in Salalah. The tournament's group stage will comprise four pools, each consisting of four teams. As the netball games await their rescheduled date, Zambia's hockey team anticipates the draw that will determine their opponents on 3rd September, setting the stage for an exciting journey towards the Hockey 5s championship.
