13th April 2023, Judoka Steven Mung'andu and Simon Zulu have earned direct qualification for next month's World Championship in Doha, Qatar. The duo qualified for the event set for May 7-14 based on their current world ranking due to good performance. Mung'andu, who fights in the 66kg, is ranked 73rd in his category while Zulu is graded 65th in the 60kg class. International Judo Federation rules entail that all judokas in the top 100 should be given direct entry for the world event.
