ZAMBIA SENDS 9 JUDO COACHES TO TAKE PART IN THE REGIONAL COACHING TRAINING IN ZIMBABWE.

Today, Various partners through club sponsorship, UNHCR, the Ministry of Home Affairs and internal security through the Refugees' Commissioner's Office, and the National Organization for Women in Sports Physical Activity and Recreation (NOWSPAR) have sent nine(9) coaches in total to attend the regional coaching course being hosted and organized by the Judo Association of Zimbabwe. This includes 5 males and 4 females who are currently undertaking the training session being hosted in Harare. Amongst the coaches taking part in the course are two coaches from the Judo for Peace Project from Maheba and Mayukwayukwa refugee camps. This is in line with the objective to capacity build the coaches, administrators, technical officials, and referees in the refugee camps. The course is designed to provide the coaches with the knowledge and skills needed to become effective coaches. The course was led by an experienced judo coach recommended by the International Judo Federation who is based in France. The coaches will be taught the necessary skills required to help judokas to improve their judo skills, including techniques, drills, mechanism of common Judo injury, the importance of nutrition in weight control, and performance and training methods. They will also be trained in coaching for self-defense skills to empower the girl child, against bullying, and the importance of mental strength in judo. The course is structured in such a way that it is interactive and engaging. The coaches are been given practical exercises to do, and they are also given the opportunity to practice coaching each other. The coaching course which commenced yesterday will come to an end on the 27th of May 2023, as various Participants await to be certified.
