24th April 2023, over 10 Judokas left Zambia to take part in the Teulings Judoka games in Ireland. The judokas representing the Sables Nua club in Kabwe Central province are in Ireland for two weeks. Whilst there, they will take part in several activities such as training sessions, visit schools, talk about Zambia and demonstrate judo, visit historical sites and meet Shitra Shakanungu, former Zambian International judoka now resident in Ireland. The tournament dubbed West Clare Open has yielded good results as the Zambian side mints eleven (11) medals at the tournament. Judoka team Coach Francis Moola Lipimile has said that this exchange program comes at a time when many judokas were aspiring to be taking part in more upcoming international events. The Olympic Youth Development of Zambia has extended a congratulatory message to the participants for making the nation proud. "Congratulations to the judokas who participate in the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge at our facilities for minting six (6) gold, three (3) silver, and two (2) bronze medals in Ireland at the Clare Open tournament," OYDC has said. The participants will therefore use the remaining days to take part in the Coaching Course with Japanese Sensei Iura Sensei (8th Dan) and participate in other activities. Photo Credit- NOCZ
