On Saturday, 20th May 2023, Zambia Rugby Union councilors will gather at Nalochi River Park Lodge to usher into office an Exco that will guide Rugby affairs for the next 4 years. The opportunity has once again come for people to select a group of leaders who will be leading them for the next coming seasons. Various stakeholders expressed their support for their preferred candidates and emotions ran high both on social media and WhatsApp groups. The select committee will gather in Kabwe to cast their very secret vote away from the influence of social media and WhatsApp groups to allow those who won't be available to participate. In the outgoing regime, the Union experienced challenges such as a lack of finances to support certain programs. "Without finance, nothing much can be done to support sports development," Rugby Union has disclosed. ZRU has also advised all candidates vying for positions to put up their best performances and ensure that they put the interest of the people first. "Our advice is that each candidate made a personal decision to stand for elections as an individual and not as a group. As we go for elections in Kabwe let us evaluate each individual and ask a critical question," ZRU has added.
