June 9th, 2023, the Zambia Rugby Union President, Chileshe Bweupe had an informal meeting with the Zambia Air Force, Chief of Training, Brigadier General Kamima Nyirienda at the Red Arrows Rugby Club during the president's visit to the Ladies 7s camp. Brigadier General Nyirienda expressed delight with the strides that the Zambian Rugby had been making over the years and took time to give counsel to the members of the ZRU Secretariat and Technical Bench on the importance of the upcoming tournament. General Nyirienda mentioned that there was an opportunity to exploit the Sports tourism space with 09 countries visiting Zambia and emphasized the need to give visibility to the event and that Rugby had the potential to get closer to soccer commercially if marketed right. The Zambia Air Force has been a longtime partner to Zambian rugby and often gives financial and logistical support to the Zambia National Rugby teams. The ZRU President was elated with the meeting and appreciated the partnership between the Defence Forces and ZRU. The President is currently on a mission of expanding partnerships with various stakeholders including the Government and the Corporate World. In attendance at the meeting were members of the Secretariat, ZRU acting CEO, Lt Col Gilbert Sinkamba Director of Rugby Noble Chisanga, and the Ladies Coach Willis Magasa.
