CELTIC have been advised to pursue Leicester City striker Patson Daka in the January transfer window, but questions have been raised about their ability to afford the move. The Zambian international, who scored 15 goals in his first two seasons at Leicester, has struggled for playing time under manager Enzo Maresca. A late-window loan deal to Premier League club Bournemouth fell through in the summer, and Daka has only made two brief appearances from the bench since then. He was omitted from the squad entirely for Saturday's 2-0 victory over Watford, with injured players Tom Cannon and Yunus Akgun returning to the team. With Celtic now under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers, who signed Daka for Leicester in 2021, the club is seeking to bolster their attacking options. Pundit Chris Sutton believes Daka would be an ideal acquisition for Celtic, but he acknowledges the financial constraints the club faces. "I look at someone like Patson Daka, who isn't playing much for Leicester City in the Championship," Sutton wrote in the Daily Record. "He scored a lot of goals for Red Bull Salzburg and would be a perfect fit. "However, there's no way Celtic could afford him unless it was a loan deal with Leicester being generous with the wage split. They operate in a different market, and that's where it becomes difficult for Rodgers." Daka impressed during the recent international break with Zambia, starting both of their World Cup qualifiers and scoring twice in a 4-2 win over Congo and once in a 2-1 loss to Niger.
