Copper Queens' Head Coach Bruce Mwape was awarded the Sports Leader of the Year award last night at the 2023 KBN TV Leadership Excellence Awards, held in Lusaka on Friday. Mwape, who led Zambia to their first-ever senior World Cup outing in Australia and New Zealand this year, has had a memorable year with the Zambia women's national soccer team. Not only this year but over the years since he took over. He becomes the third sports personality in Zambia this week to win awards, following Barbra Banda, who won the Female Sports Personality of the Year award at the 2023 Diamond TV Awards, and Patson Daka, who won the Male Sports Personality award at the same event. With Rachael Kundananji also winning two awards in Spain for her excellent performance, it has been a great year for Zambian sports. Moreover, there is more to come with the significant improvement seen in almost all sports disciplines in the country.
