Zambia women's hockey team coach, Floyd Chomba, has expressed his satisfaction with the team's preparations as they gear up for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers. Both the women's and men's teams embarked on a series of test matches against Zimbabwe while in the nation. This preparatory phase served as an opportunity for Zambia and Zimbabwe to assess their players' capabilities in anticipation of the Olympic Games qualifiers scheduled to take place in Pretoria, South Africa, from 29th October to 5th November. Zambia is poised to be represented in both the men's and women's categories during the qualifiers. Chomba remarked that the tour provided valuable insights to the technical bench, highlighting specific areas that required refinement ahead of the continental competition. At this juncture, Chomba emphasized that the outcomes of the matches were secondary; the primary focus was on the incremental buildup to the qualifying rounds. The test matches illuminated key areas for improvement upon their return home and offered the teams essential game time experience. Chomba expressed confidence in the players' fitness for the upcoming competition, underlining the need for sustained hard work in the approaching months. He also emphasized the importance of setting ambitious targets for the team, aiming to progress to significant stages in the competition rather than merely participating to make up the numbers. Chomba acknowledged his satisfaction with the overall preparations but recognized the need for some final touches in certain aspects before the competition. The team's chemistry and mutual understanding were areas of particular focus, with no changes to the previously announced squad. Chomba expressed hope for the players' steadfast commitment leading up to the commencement of the competition, urging them to maintain their determination and perseverance.
