The Zambia Men's Hockey Team has been assigned to Group B for the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers. They will face Egypt, Ghana, and Kenya. On the other hand, the young women's team will also participate in these qualifiers, pitted against Ghana, Kenya, and Namibia in the group stage. In the men's category, Egypt holds the highest rank at the 20th position, followed by Ghana at 37th, Kenya at 57th, and Zambia at 70th. Conversely, in the women's division, Ghana leads the pack at the 32nd spot, with Kenya close behind at 37th. Namibia occupies the 50th position, and Zambia is ranked 74th in the world. A significant change in the World Ranking system was implemented on 1st January 2020, following approval by the FIH Executive Board. This new model departs from the previous tournament-based ranking system and adopts a match-based approach. Points are exchanged between the two teams in each match, with the number of points exchanged dependent on the match's outcome, the relative rankings of the teams, and the match's significance.
