Amidst the government's commitment to support all sports, concerns have arisen regarding certain sports federations potentially misusing events as a means to siphon money from the Ministry of Sports. Elvis Nkandu, speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Sports, expressed skepticism regarding exaggerated budgets presented by some federations in recent days. He urged these organizations to exercise prudence when requesting funds, as such practices undermine trust. Furthermore, Nkandu advised sports federations to refrain from seeking media attention to address internal conflicts or queries. Instead, he emphasized the importance of direct communication with the Ministry of Sports to resolve issues peacefully. He explained, "Just ensure that you come to us so that we can help and support you, unlike running to the mainstream media for publicity. The media will always find means to extract information from you, resulting in strained relationships." This advisory was given today as Nkandu handed over the house to Samukonga after his 2022 Gold win at the Birmingham games, with hopes to strengthen the bond between federations and the Ministry of Sports.
