The government has increased its spending on sports, recreation, culture, and religion from K444,422,530 to K493,427,813 for next year. The Minister of Finance and National Planning, Situmbeko Musokotwane, has proposed a budget of over K177 billion for 2024, with General Public Services receiving the largest portion of K58 billion, constituting 33 percent of the total budget. In the latest budget presented in parliament by Musokotwane, an additional K49,005,283 has been allocated to sports and recreation compared to last year's budget. The allocation of K493 million for recreation, culture, and religion represents 0.3 percent of the total budget outlined by the minister. This 0.3 percent allocation for recreation, culture, and religion is the smallest share of the 2024 national budget. Last year, the government allocated K165 million specifically for sports and sports infrastructure development.
