The Zambia national women's wheelchair basketball team has completed its journey at the 2023 1st African Para Games with a hard-fought 37-33 loss to Kenya. This debut appearance in wheelchair basketball for Zambia signifies a promising step onto the major continental tournament stage. Before this game, Zambia celebrated a resounding victory in their first match against Ghana, ending with a scoreline of 42-14 in favor of Team Zed at the African Paralympics Championship. This victory came after a challenging streak of four consecutive defeats against South Africa, Algeria, Morocco, and the DR Congo. The team's participation in this tournament follows a round-robin system and also serves as a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, reflecting Zambia's growing presence in the world of wheelchair basketball.
