The African Hockey Federation has recently made an important announcement regarding the officials for the upcoming African Hockey Road to Paris 2024 Qualifiers. In a notable move, the Federation has appointed three individuals from Zambia to play pivotal roles in overseeing the qualifiers. These individuals are Valentine Ziba, who will serve as a Technical Official, and Rita Katoka and Abraham Chaya, who will assume the responsibilities of Umpires. This selection highlights the Federation's commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity within the sport of hockey. One noteworthy aspect of this decision is the emphasis on gender equality within the sport. Hockey is actively working towards achieving a 50-50 gender balance among officials at the Games, encompassing both Umpires and Technical Officials. This initiative mirrors the broader ambitions of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as they strive to realize gender parity across all sports featured at the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.
