Sports Minister, Elvis Nkandu, has announced that the government has officially entered into a memorandum of understanding with the World Sports Alliance. Their joint objective is to establish a comprehensive sports facility in Livingstone, which will accommodate a wide range of sporting disciplines. This initiative aims to boost sports tourism. Nkandu further revealed that the government has taken the initiative to secure 20 hectares of land in Livingstone for this purpose. The World Sports Alliance has expressed keen interest in collaborating to develop this area. In his efforts to support this endeavor, Nkandu has initiated discussions with Members of Parliament, appealing to them to grant the Ministry of Sports access to Constituency Development Funds (CDF), similar to the Health and Education sectors. This move is expected to enable the Ministry of Sports to establish smaller multi-sport facilities in all constituencies across the country.
