The men's hockey national team's journey in the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers has come to an end after suffering back-to-back losses, losing 3-1 to Ghana in their first game and 1-0 to Kenya in the second game. Elvis Bwalya, the coach of the hockey national team, commended the team's performance despite a penalty in the fourth quarter that allowed their opponents to score. He is now shifting their focus to the upcoming African Games hosted by Ghana next year. Hockey player Shadrick Katele attributed their loss and elimination from the qualifiers to a lack of exposure to similar competitive games. He has also called on relevant authorities to support the team and provide opportunities for them to participate in more challenging competitions. The next match for the men's team is scheduled against Egypt on Wednesday.
