In a turn of events, Zambia, the reigning COSAFA champions, have triumphantly booked their place in the semi-finals of the COSAFA tournament. After finishing as the best runners-up in Group B, accumulating 6 points and a goal difference of 2. Group B proved to be a fiercely contested battle, with Mauritius from Group C also vying for the opportunity to secure a spot as the best runners-up. However, fate dealt a cruel blow to Mauritius as they slid from second place in their group to the bottom after suffering a disappointing 1-0 loss to Mozambique. Adding to their misfortune, Angola emerged victorious over Lesotho in the final matches of Group C. With this outcome, Zambia has set up a highly anticipated clash against South Africa in the semi-finals, scheduled for Friday. The Zambian team, under the guidance of coach Moses Sichone, expressed confidence in their ability to secure a spot in the final. Sichone commended his players for their exceptional performance in the previous match against Seychelles, where they triumphed with a commanding 4-2 victory. "It's a good thing, I must say," Sichone shared. "We knew we were going to make it. The boys understood our strategy after the training sessions, and we executed a good game. Our focus now is to prepare the boys mentally and physically for the challenge of facing South Africa. Playing against a team with home support is double motivation for us, and we want to make Zambians happy and proud." While Zambia remains optimistic about their chances of clinching the COSAFA title once again, they recognize the significant hurdle they face in the semi-finals against South Africa. The Zambian team understands that they need to overcome this formidable opponent before allowing their thoughts to drift towards the final.
