Zambia became the first country in the history of the COSAFA Cup to win the tournament seven times after overcoming Lesotho 1-0 in the final on Sunday. The match looked to be heading for extra time when Forest Rangers striker Wisdom Libamba Moyela headed home in the 78th minute to give Zambia the lead. The win means Zambia has set several records, including most COSAFA Cup titles, back-to-back glory, and becoming the most decorated country in Southern Africa with 10 major honors. Zambia coach Moses Sichone said, "We didn't play well in the first half, but we tried to control the game in the second half. We analyzed how Lesotho was playing and made the changes because they were dominating the midfield. "Compliments to the players for showing team spirit. We have defended the cup, and we are taking it back home. Compliments to the technical bench. We worked as a team." Man of the match winner Wisdom Libamba Moyela said, "I am very happy for this. It is my first time. It was a tough game, but we just have to enjoy this cup." Lesotho coach Thabo Senong said, "The boys did their level best, but congratulations to Zambia. It wasn't our day. We played well, but it wasn't our day. The players need more games to make them a better team. The six matches we have played here have come in handy, and I'm sure we will see a much more improved performance going forward." Zambia captain Kelvin Kapumuzi said, "It was a tough game, but we played as a team and we followed what the coaches told us."
