As a member of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) ZONE VI, Botswana is currently hosting the ANOCA ZONE IV Annual General Assembly (AGM) in Gaborone, Botswana. The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) unites the fifty-four (54) National Olympic Committees of Africa, as an affiliate of the International Olympic Committee. It is currently headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria, and is mandated to service sport, youth, and human development and promote Olympic values. Before the kick-off of the assembly, a short opening ceremony was held earlier in the morning and was officiated by the Mayor of Gaborone City, His Worship Austin Abraham. Meanwhile, the National Olympic Committee of Zambia President, Mr. Alfred Foloko attends the meeting with the hope of lifting Zambia's sports and strengthening the capacity of different Athletes. In an interview with Zed Sports yesterday, Mr. Foloko said that he is happy to be part of the assembly where he is interacting with other countries who also aim at lifting sports in their respective countries and improving local sports. Alfred further added that there were many things that were being addressed at the assembly including the development of Sports in countries and how different management teams should conduct themselves as they run the associations from their different countries.
