Diamond League
A few days ago, Muzala Samukonga embarked on a career-changing journey as he participated in the Diamond League, in which Zambia last participated in 1992 and 1993, respectively, with veteran Athletes like Matete. Muzala clinched the second position with a record of 44.9s, finishing behind Van Niekerk who won first position at the Diamond League. Samukonga, however, thanked Van Niekerk and exchanged bibs to show unity and offer solidarity to him as they participated in the same race for the first time. Part of his message reads as follows: "With respect from the world record holder in 400m, he exchanged the bib names with the world leader because of the respect I showed him and because it was our first race together. This was a symbol of respect to the Prince from the King, Wayde van Niekerk. Thank you very much for the respect you showed me. It means a lot and is encouraging."
