Swimming sensation Jade Phiri has broken the 13-year-old national record after timing 1.06.06 seconds in the l00m butterfly event at the South Africa Nationals held over the weekend. The national record which stood at 1.16.60 and was set in 2010 by Mercedez Milner, and Jaoe Phiri surpassed it. The event held in Port Elizabeth also saw Jade win the 50m freestyle after timing 28.42s seconds and posting 28.98 seconds in a 50mm fly. 19th April 2023, Zambia Swimming Union (ZASU) president Guy Phiri said the association was happy with the performance of the Swimmer and expressed confidence that she would represent the nation well at the Trinbago 2023. Guy further added that Jade was also set for a training camp in Spain for two weeks before heading out to the Commonwealth Games. "We are happy with the progress Jade is making. She will have a two weeks training camp in Spain in July while Zac is also training in Ireland where he is based and will also compete at the World Championships," Phiri said.
