The first ever Under 20 Chess Individual National Championships is currently underway at Fairview Hotel, marking a significant event in the world of youth chess competition. This competition has drawn the participation of 53 enthusiastic players hailing from five different provinces across Zambia, including Copperbelt, Luapula, Lusaka, Southern, and Western provinces. Among this dedicated group of competitors, 12 are talented young girls, while 41 are determined young boys. Their collective efforts will be put to the test in this competition, which will continue until October 8, 2023. One of the primary objectives of this championship is to identify and select the most promising players who will have the honor of representing Zambia in the Under 20 African Chess Championship, scheduled to take place in Mauritania from December 4th to 12th, 2023.
