The Chess Federation of Zambia has announced the participation of four Zambian chess players in the upcoming African Junior Chess Tournament scheduled for December 4th to 12th in Mauritania. The players, namely Naomi Mwale, Victoria Mwetwa, Raphael Sharon, and the under-20 national champion Samuel Mumba, are set to compete for the coveted title of International Masters, according to Federation President Leslie Chikuse. Chikuse emphasized the significance of this tournament, highlighting that the winners would be granted the esteemed title of International Master. Expressing gratitude for the support received throughout the eventful year, Chikuse thanked the government, Ministry of Sports, cooperating partners, sponsors from the corporate sector, and parents who introduced various sponsors. He also acknowledged the media for extensive coverage and support, ensuring the game of chess reaches every corner of the country. In his appreciation, Chikuse extended thanks to the chess players, academies, executive committee members, and leaders who have played pivotal roles in promoting and advancing the game of chess in Zambia.
