The Chess Federation of Zambia (CFZ) has noted concerns from different participants who have the desire to take part in the Junior Chess Championship scheduled for 28th April 2023. Chess Federation Secretary, Benjamin Mulenga has said that lack of funds reduces the participant's morale due to lack of money. "If not for funds, we would do a lot more to make our Chess World better. Currently, many Chess academies are facing financial challenges which contribute to some participants drawing back from the tournament," He said. "For this reason, I request that the majority of the Chess community come up with different fundraising ventures which will allow them to have some sponsorship funds which can help the participants in their respective teams," Added Benjamin. Mr. Mulenga has therefore called on all stakeholders and government bodies who are willing to finance some players who will be taking part in the Junior Chess Championships. Meanwhile, the Chess Federation of Zambia has confirmed that some participants in different parts of the country have started enrolling for their participation in the incoming games.
