The Chess Federation of Zambia (CFZ) is delighted with the appointment of Chanda Nsankanya as one of the referees for the 2023 Chess World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan. The tournament is set to run from July 30th to 24th August 2023, with Nsankanya among the referees presiding over matches. The participating countries have been divided into five groups, with Group A comprising New Zealand, Norway, the Philippines, and Switzerland. Group B consists of Australia, Republic of Ireland, Nigeria, and Canada. In Group C, we have Spain, Costa Rica, Japan, and Zambia. Group D comprises England, Haiti, Denmark, and China, while Group E carries USA, Vietnam, Netherlands, and Portugal. In addition to Zambia's representative referee, the national senior chess team will also participate in the World Cup. Over 20 countries will be competing to win the top prize in both men's and women's categories.
