The Zambia Athletics (ZA) has said that this year's proceeds from the Inter-Company Relay (ICR) will be channeled towards qualifying the athletes for the World Championships and other international events. According to a statement released by the ICR secretariat yesterday, the 2023 edition will be held at the Heroes National Stadium on 15th July under the theme 'Reignite your Health'. The focus this year is to raise funds and qualify athletes for the World Championships in Budapest - Hungary in August 2023, other regional games, and preparing athletes for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, while continuing with the grassroots athletics development through youth and kid's athletics programs around the country," read the statement. The ICR is the largest, most engaging, and an exciting sporting event that brings together corporate leaders and executives, civil society, government, the diplomatic corps, and the community for a day of fun in a socially-friendly atmosphere. The statement stated that the event has a proven record of reducing social distance between executives and their employees as well as improving relations with clients while raising funds to support champions like Muzala Samukonga and Rhoda Njovu. In an interview, ZA president Elias Mpondela said that the relay has been promoting sports development and has been a good fundraiser used to support different Athletes.
