On 11th May 2010, In the Government of the Republic of Zambia in partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) launched a multisport complex called Olympic Youth Development Centre; which was later rebranded as OYDC Zambia Sports Development Centre. The main aim of this project was to provide underserved and vulnerable people from surrounding communities an opportunity to practice sports and change their lifestyles. Since then, OYDC Zambia has hosted a number of talented youths both local and international who have since come back to testify how these facilities have helped them shape their sporting career such that many minted medals and trophies at various major competitions. OYDC Zambia has not only been promoting different sports activities but also has been dining with inclusiveness such as the promotion of para-athletes and sitting volleyball in the program. The facility has not only been a platform for discipline, but it has also been a link between Vario Athletes and International sports associations via different exchange programs meant to benefit the Athletes. The Olympic Youth Development Centre has also worked with different associations and Non-governmental organizations, in order to ensure that there is growth in various sports in the country. With this year's anniversary, OYDC has rebranded to Zambia Sports Development Centre and looks forward to developing different youths from the grassroots till they become capable of participating in International sports associations.
