Zambia Kofukan Karate Association (ZKKA) is expected to host the heroes youth karate Championships this August and will attract other countries who are geared to battle for the championship. ZKKA has different centers in Lusaka where young people meet for inclusive Karate training such as Mandevu, Kabwata, Makeni, and Bauleni among other centers. In an interview with Zed Sport this morning, ZKKA secretary general Elijah Jere said that the association has been canceling many tournaments and meetings due to financial constraints. "Especially this year, we have put to halt many tournaments due to financial challenges and less support from well-wishers," He said. Mr. Jere further added that the association has tried to engage various stakeholders including the church in Bauleni at Don Bosco where they have been given a platform for them to train. Elijah has raised a voice for parents to be supporting their children in Sports because it can help so many Athletes. "Most parents think that children waste time when they take part in sports but in actual sense aside from self-defense, we teach children and youths how to conduct themselves, to be disciplined and focus on school," Mr. Jere has disclosed. "Peer pressure is what has endangered many young people who are under our association, some children are sent to sale in markets hence having less time to develop themselves," The association added. Zambia Kufukan shared that they are also an affiliate of Zambia Kungfu Federation and they seek to make this year's Heroes Kungfu Championships a successful event. Zimbabwe and Botswana have so far confirmed to participate in the tournament which will be hosted in Zambia by 26th August 2023. Either OYDC Zambia or NASDEC will be the host for the championship for the Heroes Kungfu tournament.
