Zambia is set to make its debut in AirBadminton at the 2023 African Beach Games in Hammamet, Tunisia. AirBadminton is an outdoor sport similar to traditional badminton but played with a wind-resistant AirShuttle, allowing for gameplay on various surfaces like hard courts, grass, and sand. This debut marks a significant milestone for Zambia in promoting accessibility and inclusivity in sports. AirBadminton offers three formats of play: singles, doubles, and triples. In the triples format, players are restricted to hitting the AirShuttle only once in a row, encouraging movement and strategic play. The rules also require the service to be struck behind the designated "serve marker" and the AirShuttle to be hit below the height of the net tape. The dead zone at the net eliminates net play and reduces the risk of injuries on outdoor surfaces. The scoring system in AirBadminton adds an extra level of excitement to the game. Matches are played to 11 points, with the winner being determined by the best of five sets. If the score reaches 10-10, a two-point advantage is required for victory. And in the event of a tie at 14-14, the next point becomes the deciding factor. Zambia's participation in AirBadminton at the African Beach Games is a momentous occasion for the country. The Zambian Team is preparing eagerly to showcase their skills and passion for the sport on the international stage.
